Comox Dog Park
Address: 2085 Wallace Ave, Comox, BC V9M 1W4
This 32,000 square-foot area is fully fenced with an 4 foot high fence and allows for dogs to play off-leash. This was the location of the former Comox Elementary School, located at the intersection of Rodello St and Fairbairn Ave. Also good to note, this is the only year-round off-leash dog park in Comox.
Inside the park, you will find a water fountain, picnic tables, a dog doo bag dispenser, and a collection bin. In May 2023, 8 new trees were planted, and in the summer of 2024, a dedicated small dog space was added for smaller sized dogs to run around in a safe area.
Goose Spit Park
Address: 60 Hawkins Rd, Comox, BC V9M 3W7
The Goose Spit Park in Comox is perfect if you want to spend your day or night on a beach peninsula, while going swimming, kayaking (bring your own), and having a barbecue with a view.
Though from March 1st to May 20th each year, leashing is required for pets to let migrating Brant geese to rest and eat within the park. Outside of that timeframe, your dog is allowed to be leash free. This park has a dog bag dispenser, garbage bins, picnic tables, benches, porta potties, and wheelchair facilities.
The west side of Seal Bay Nature Park (excluding Melda’s Marsh Loop)
Address: Bates Rd, Courtenay, BC V9J 1X4
Main parking lots: 2201 Hardy Rd and 2100 Bates Rd
Seal Bay Nature Park is a big park divided by Bates Rd into the east side and west side, and is wonderful for trail walking or running. On the east side and on the Melda Marsh Loop, dog leashing is required year-round. Other trails on the west side are leash optional outside of the April 1st to June 30th nesting and fawn season. Fun fact, the entire Seal Bay Nature Park is 642 hectares, which is one and a half times the size of Stanley Park in Vancouver.
Cumberland Village Park
Address: intersection of Dunsmuir Ave and Sixth St in Cumberland, off-leash dog park is accessible from the foot of Sixth St
Dogs at the Cumberland Village Park are only permitted in the off-leash dog area. They are not allowed anywhere else within the park. Others areas of the whole 12 hectare park includes a playground for kids, a seasonal water park, a skatepark, BMX track, tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court, horseshoes pitches, and washrooms.
